This is a frequent question among all applicants who are starting college for the first time. It should be kept in mind when you seek or join anything that has the potential to shape your entire life if properly moulded.

Now, when it comes to placement, keep in mind that it is more dependent on the student's competence than on the average placement of institutions.

You know, if you ask a person who got 30 LPA+ from his college, he would almost certainly have no complaints about his institution, but a student who is not placed can claim that no businesses visit the campus, whether it is IITs/NITs or other colleges.

Particularly in the case of IIT and NIT, you do not need to be concerned about placement; instead, you should be concerned with your ability. The more skilled you are, the more campus placement opportunities you will have.

Now, if we consider the average aerospace package provided by IITs and NITs, it is undeniably 8 lakhs or more in virtually all NITs and IITs.

I recommend that you retain your emphasis on learning new things, since this will result in a favourable placement.

If you're a graduate from IIT or NIT your starting salary might be 5-7 lpa to maximum 30 lpa in aeronautics . IITs/NITs can give you a good start in aeronautics around 85% of students get placed. But the salary complety depends on your performance, your interview session , company and location. You can do aeronautics in field of airforce , research agencies, defences etc. which can fetch you a good amount of salary too.
