And the university provides several scholarships which only merit cum basis. The following info will help you, I guess:

• Eligibility criteria - 80% marks in class 10th and 12th with 85% in PCM
• 50% tuition fee waiver on 10% seats in each program in the first year for CBSE, ICSE & State board pass out students
• The Scholarship will be renewed in the Second Semester provided the student obtains SGPA of 8/10.

And again you will have Uttarakhand special domicile scholarships.

Hi buddy, I can see so many mixed reviews coming on this thread. I can understand how difficult it is to judge and analyse the things when its two way round. Firstly, I would say its quite obvious to receive mixed reviews about any reputed institution as not every student can share the same opinion but here some anonymous profiles have shared some information thats completely wrong and can mislead anyone. Firstly, its completely wrong to say that UPES is good only for petroleum, I would like to inform you that the very first batch of UPES B. Tech CSE passed out last year with 100 percent placements and that too with a highest package of 6.75 lakhs per annum and average being 3.5 lakhs per annum. And the recruiters were not small companies...they were the big tech giants like Dell India, IBM, Infosys, L&T Infotech, Xebia IT Architects India Private Ltd., Zensar Technologies, Persistent Systems etc..And this is not just the case with CSE, 90 % students from most of their engineering programs got placed through campus. Secondly, UPES faculty is quite good.. most of them are from the leading educational institutions. Thirdly, UPES has some state of the art labs that require investments of a very high order. And an internship program that covers 100% students. Thats the reason more than 70% of recruiters at UPES are repeat recruiters. If you follow UPES official updates you will see UPES students winning competitions at national and international levels. Do I need to say more? And I agree with Kanishk that you should check out its official updates on FB, Twitter..there they share the event pictures, updates, and recent happening which is enough to give you a glimpse of how is university in reality.
