IES exam is conducted every year by for recruitment of engineers in the Engineering Services of the Government of India

Pattern-

You have to appear for 3 Stages in the UPSC IES Exam Pattern:

1) UPSC IES Prelims Stage-

(a) Paper 1- General Studies &
Engineering Aptitude

(b) Paper 2- Mechanical Engineering

· The Prelims will be a total of 500 marks.

· Paper I will be 200 marks & Paper II will be 300 marks.

· Negative Marking – 1/3rd marks deducted for each wrong answer.

2) UPSC IES Mains Stage-

(a) Paper I- Mechanical Engineering

(b) Paper II- Mechanical Engineering

· A total of 2 papers will be conducted at this stage.

§ 300 marks each will be allotted to the exam.

§ Total marks of the exam will be 600 marks.

3) UPSC IES Interview-

· The Interview will be of 200 marks.

· This will be a personality Test to judge your personality & communication skills.
