Procedure how counciling happened ?

Counselling for IITs, NITS, IIITs, and GFTIs is conducted by JoSSA( Joint Seat Allocation Authority), for the eligible candidates. You will have to register online into JoSSA using your roll no. and password. Then you will have to fill the choices according to your preferences and then lock your choices. After this,  two rounds of Mock seat allotment will be conducted, which will give you an idea of the allotment process and you can edit your filled choices and arrange your preferences in a better way.

After this, first main round of seat allotment will be conducted. Now, you will have the option to  either freeze, or float or slide or withdraw the seat. You can Freeze the seat if you are satisfied with the seat alloted, and you won't be participating in any further rounds. If you want to keep the current seat alloted, but wish to participate in further rounds of seat allotment, you have to choose 'Float' option. If you wish to lock the college alloted, but want to upgrade the branch alloted(in the same college), you have to choose to 'Slide'. And if you want to withdraw from counselling process completely, you have to choose to ' Withdraw'.

To confirm the seat, you have to pay Seat Acceptance Fees(SAF) (which is Rs 45,000/- for Gen/OBC NCL and Rs 20,000/- for SC/ST/SC-pwd/SC-pwd/Gen-pwd/OBC-NCL-pwd). This will be followed by verification of documents, centre for which will be given in the JoSSA website itself.

If you choose to float or slide, you will be participating in further rounds of allotment, until you choose to freeze or withdraw.

Finally, you will have to report to the alloted college and pay the remaining fees.

Note: There is also a Special Round of Allotment, which is conducted by CSAB(Central Seat Allocation Board), once JoSSA allotments are completed.

Josaa is the authority that otganises counseling process. First of all the eligible students have to register to the official josaa website . By second week of June you can register and fill your college choices. By third week of June there will be mock allotment 1 and mock allotment 2. From last week of June first round and seat acceptance at the center will begin.
