Dear Aspirant,

The first point to consider when taking an integrated 5 year program is if you are keen on specialization in CSE. So the watchword is specialization in your domain and to become an expert in a particular area then it becomes extremely worthwhile and the world is also moving towards specialization. Also if you want to take up teaching then an M.Tech becomes very important before doing your PhD.

If you don’t intend to specialize and you are uncertain of your long term goals then it is better to break it up. Decide while you are studying on your next move.

Pro: Two Degrees, well lets start of with obvious one - you earn 2 degrees
Con: Much bigger Course Load
Pro: saves time in the long run
Con: Leaves little time for other things
