Hey Dipak.
As the name suggests, it is a core finance course, more finance than PGDM Finance. It gives you good visibility in front of companies looking for students for the role of RMs, Auditors, consultants and many more.
PGDM finance is a more open ended course as it allows you to club your majors with another majors (in marketing or operations) or 2–3 minors. Compare that to BFS you only get to study core finance projects with a few tailor made marketing courses.
Finance or marketing students get to choose whatever majors they like to have, which, is good for someone who is a fresher or someone who is not very clear what’s good for him/her as in the first year you get to look at all options you have and then you can decide what subjects you want.
Talking about the BFS course I would recommend you to go for it only if you are perfectly clear of your likability towards finance subjects and even more so towards finance profiles.
It distinguishes you from the rest of the batch and as the sector is booming it gives you better chances of being placed (though the companies which will be looking out for you will be lesser as compared to Marketing and finance companies. This might be because companies keep changing your profiles until and unless they finally decide in which department they want to put you, hence if you are trained in only 1 department , which is finance, do not think that companies with an open ended role will take you. Banks will be your best shot).
Compared to PGDM Finance students PGDM BFS students get placed earlier because of the smaller batch strength and distinguishing skill sets.
Hope this serves your query. All the best.
