National Institute of Technology or commonly known as “ NIT ” are autonomous engineering institutes in India. These are recognized as institutes of national importance .  There are a total of 31 NITs which are linked together through a common council called NIT Council. NITs offer undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes in various disciplines. For the admission to B.Tech courses, candidates have to qualify JEE Main examination and appear for the general counselling process conducted by JoSAA .

Admission Process of NIT:

How to get admission in NITs through JEE Main : NITs provide courses including B.Tech , B.Arch , M.Tech , M.Arch , M.Sc , MBA , MCA and PhD programmes. For admission in B.Tech and B.Arch, candidates have to qualify JEE Main examination and appear in counselling conducted by JoSAA . Admission in different M.Tech courses will be done through CCMT counselling on the basis of the marks obtained in GATE examination. For admission in M.Sc courses will be done on the basis of the marks obtained in JAM examination and counselling. For taking admission in MCA courses, candidates have to appear for NIMCET examination. All the information about the  admission procedure for different programmes has mentioned below:

Admission Procedure for B.Tech Programmes:  Qualifying JEE Main examination is the only process moreover no other mode is accepted. Besides, the candidates must have to meet JEE Main eligibility criteria and complete the counselling process to get admission in their desired NIT college.

• The candidates must have passed class 12.

• Candidates must appear in JEE Main and must meet JEE Main cutoff specified by the authorities to be considered for the admission process.

• For qualified candidates, Joint Seat Allocation Authority ( JoSAA ) conducts a general counselling process, in which the candidates will be able to register their choice of colleges and courses.

Admission Procedure for M.tech Programmes:

• To take admission in M.Tech programmes, the candidates need to qualify GATE examination.

• Based on their GATE score, candidates need to register for CCMT counselling and choose a preferable college.

Admission Procedure for PhD Programmes:

• For the admission to the doctoral programmes, candidates need to qualify a written test conducted by the respective department of the college.

• Qualified candidates will appear in an interview related to their interested area.

• Based on the marks, a merit list will be released by the authority.
