Hello,
Attestation is important for authenticity of the document,therefore college asks for attested documents.Yes you need to submit attested documents not all but some like your caste certificate and some other documents.You have to also submit original copies and some xerox.You may check the link below ,it is the official link and it has all the details .I hope it helped
