The root cells(diploid) are formed by the mitosis of the stock so it will have 58 chromosomes as the stock. In gamates, egg cell or pollen the chromosome number will be half of the original plant. The question lacks some details. So it is difficult to find out the number of chromosomes in the egg cell.
