Correct Answer: 48 km/hr
Solution : Let the total distance covered by Rajinder = $2x$ km Time taken to travel half distance = $\frac{x}{40}$ Time taken to travel other half distance = $\frac{x}{60}$ Average speed = $\frac{\text{Total distance travelled}}{\text{Total time taken}}$ = $\frac{2x}{\frac{x}{40}+\frac{x}{60}}$ = $\frac{2×40×60}{40+60}$ = 48 km/hr Hence, the correct answer is 48 km/hr.
