Razia was a daughter of Qutb ud-Din Aibak's former Turkic slave of Delhi Sultan Shamsuddin Iltutmish. The first and only female Muslim emperor of Delhi was Razia Sultan. For four years, she ruled Delhi. While her father was engaged in the Gwalior campaign in 1231–1222, she oversaw the administration of Delhi.
