Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) is a 5.5 years professional course for which the students are awarded the degrees in medicine and surgery upon successful completion of the course. The course is regulated by the Medical Council of India and is spanned for four and a half years divided into semesters, followed by a compulsory internship for a year.
Usually, the minimum eligibility for the course is 10+2 with subjects with a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. English is also a mandatory subject for eligibility in many of the universities and colleges. However, AIIMS requires an aggregate of 60% for the general category candidates and 50% for SC/ST candidates.
The major entrance exams are AIIMS Entrance Exam and NEET Exam.
The tuition fee varies from government-funded to private colleges. The average fees range around INR 1-10 Lakhs. However, AIIMS is one such institute with the fee structure as low as around INR 2,000.
MBBS: Admission
Almost every institute gives admission in the MBBS course through an entrance exam. Usually, the forms for the entrance exams are available online. The forms for AIIMS are available in the last week of January and the entrance exam usually takes place in the last week of May. Similarly, other entrance exams also take place in the months of May-June after the result of 10+2 is declared.
Once the result for the entrance exam is declared, the students are called for counseling based on the merit prepared considering both the marks obtained in the entrance exam and the qualifying (10+2) exam.

The mode of testing is an objective type test, testing the basic knowledge of a candidate based on the subjects studied in 10+1 and 10+2 from CBSE, NCERT, and COBSE(Council of Boards of School Education in India) along with various state syllabi. Along with these modes of admission, there is also a provision for direct admission to around 30 Medical colleges all over India through Management Quota seats.

The process proceeds as follows.The conducting body will release a notification post the release of NEET result and further will release the application form for admission to Maharashtra MBBS BDS courses. The provisional merit list will be tentatively released containing the name of candidates who have completed the registration process for Maharashtra MBBS admission 2019 and are eligible. These candidates will be required to participate in the document verification as per the rank allotted to them in the Maharashtra MBBS merit list. After the completion of Maharashtra MBBS document verification session, the revised merit list will be released consisting the verified list of candidates. These applicants can participate in the counselling for Maharashtra MBBS admission 2019.
The dates for admission process for mbbs is as follows:
1.Release of Maharashtra MBBS 2019 Application Form- First week of June 2019
2. Last date for submission of application form- Third week of June 2019.
3. Last date for payment of application fee via SBI challan- Third week of June 2019.
4. Publication of Provisional Merit List- Third week of June 2019.
5. Document Verification-Forth week of June 2019.
6. Publication of Revised Provisional Merit List- Forth week of June 2019.
7. First round of Online Choice Filling (Counselling)- Last week of june
8. Publication of first seat allotment list- First week of july 2019.
9. Last date to join allotted college after first list- Second week of july 2019.
After this the second round will commence in the same way and you need to fill the college list again.
10. Last date to join allotted college- Last week of august.
