Hello candidate,
Satrapi stopped visiting Iran after her first book was published, concerned that her criticism of the regime might make it unsafe for her there. Satrapi followed up her autobiographical stories with the book Embroideries, published in the United States. Moreover, When Satrapi wrote Persepolis, she wrote it with the purpose of opening people's eyes to what it was really like to live in Iran. She loved her childhood and grew up in a great family, so she wanted to share her experience to shed light on a country known for its terrorism and extremist actions.
Hope you found it informational!!
