Hello there. Considering the fact that you are doing to do your engineering from NIT, it itself provide you a better scope in any field you are working.

Now as for mettalurgical engineering, this stream has its very own importance. Since every thing that is being created now a days consist of metals and in mettalurgical engineering you study about the behavior and property of metals  so in any case the metal work will be discussed, then the first priority is always given to a mettalurgical engineer. So yes mettalurgical engineering do have a good scope for future and doing it from NIT is like a cherry on cake.

Currently, the structure and scope of metallurgy in India is not very impressive. But, if you develop keen interest on the subject, you can do good research in top colleges after BTech also. Otherwise, you can also do coding or any other interests while studying metallurgy in NIT Srinagar.
