Hi,

The Government of India and the Pharmacy Council of India introduced the Doctor of Pharmacy, or Pharm.D, as a six-year professional pre-Ph.D. postgraduate doctorate in 2008. The Doctor of Pharmacy was developed with the goal of improving clinical pharmacy services in India because it is the only pharmacy service that has direct contact with the patient health care system. Students enrolling in the programme must finish a five-year classroom and hospital-based didactic study programme, followed by a one-year internship training programme in hospitals, which includes continuous practicals and research projects.

Eligibility:

  • Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in pharmacy (B. Pharm) from a recognised university.
  • Candidates who are currently pursuing a D. Pharm (diploma in pharmacy) are eligible to apply for lateral admission into the programme.

Scope: The area of pharmacy offers a wide range of career opportunities. Students can pursue a P.hD. programme after completing the Pharm D. programme.
