Correct Answer: I said to my parents, “Don’t worry about me."

Solution : The correct choice is the fourth option.

The steps of conversion are as follows:

  • The reporting verb "told" is changed to "said".
  • There would be no change in the pronouns because there is no change in the person in the direct speech.
  • We know that in imperative sentences, "not to" or "to" is added in the indirect speech. So, in the direct speech, "not to" is changed to "don't".
  • The words of the speaker are enclosed in the inverted commas.

Therefore, the direct form would be: I said to my parents, "Don’t worry about me."
