Solution : The first option is the correct choice.

The given sentence is in the indirect speech. As per the question, we have to change it to the direct speech.

The process of transformation is as follows:

  • "Said " will not change because, in the given sentence, the reporting verb does not have any object .
  • The third-person pronoun "he" is changed to the first-person pronoun "I".
  • The past perfect tense (past perfect tense) is changed to the simple past tense (solved) in the direct speech.
  • The words of the speaker are enclosed in the inverted commas.
  • "The previous day" is changed to "yesterday".

Therefore, the correct answer is: Saaransh said, "I solved the crossword yesterday ."
