Correct Answer: Renu told her brother that he had been watching the show without her.

Solution : The correct choice is the first option .

In indirect speech, pronouns and verb tenses are adjusted to fit the context, and the original message is reported indirectly.

Transformation into Indirect Speech:

  • The reporting verb changes to told in the past tense because the reported speech is in the past.
  • "You" is changed to "he" to refer back to Renu's brother indirectly.
  • "Were" changes to "had been" to reflect the sequence of tenses when reporting speech that occurred in the past. "Had been" is the past perfect continuous tense of "to be".
  • "Without me" remains the same in the indirect form.

So, the indirect form would be, Renu told her brother that he had been watching the show without her.
