Correct Answer: She said, “Can I help you with your packing?”

Solution : The second option is the correct answer.

In direct speech, we express someone's words exactly as they were spoken, within quotation marks.

The steps of conversion are as follows:

  • The reporting verb "asked' is changed to "said".
  • The modal "could" is changed to "can".
  • The statement is changed to a question beginning with a modal verb "can".
  • The third-person pronoun "she" is changed to the first-person pronoun "I".
  • The third-person pronouns "him" and "his" are changed to the second-person pronouns "you" and "your", respectively.
  • The words of the speaker are enclosed in the inverted commas.

Therefore, the correct answer is: She said, "Can I help you with your packing?"
