The process of transformation is as follows:

  • The reporting verb said to is changed to begged to maintain the imperative nature of the sentence.

  • The first-person pronoun me is changed into the third-person pronoun him .
  • The imperative statement is changed to the reported speech using the infinitive form of the verb (to pardon).
