Hello,
It's a very personal choice to go for high paying job as in private sector that's what I hope you're referring to or to pursue government jobs, the decision to pursue any of the above field is dependent on various factors such as in which class you're currently studying, are you in school or pursuing graduation or you are already a graduate looking for choices, what stream is your educational qualifications, what are your aspirations for future, there are many candidates who have pursued their engineering degree from highly reputed institutes in India but they have chosen to go for UPSC/SSC or banking sector, but then there are some who haven't, because they have different vision and goal in life, so there are lot of factors to be taken into consideration while taking such an important decision, also today whatever government exams you name, the competition is fierce, hence it takes a lot of efforts and diligence on the part of the candidate to qualify the exam, there is no one rule fit all here, like I said you have to know what kind of job profile you're looking at, and select it accordingly, for example if you want to work in banking then I will suggest appear for RBI Grade B officer, that's the most prestigious job profile, other than this UPSC is equally good option, but the syllabus for both are totally opposite, so appearing for a exam also needs analysis as in what are your strong areas, and if there are shortfalls you need to accordingly work on it if you want to clear the exam.
