Common Entrance Test for Journalism (CETJ) for Bachelor’s degree courses in Journalism and Mass Communication is being conducted compulsorily by colleges and universities. The test paper contains 150 objective type questions and 600 marks in total.
So, yes you have to attend the entrance exam after you are eligible for the test as per the criteria.

If you want to get into a top colleges like jamia ,st Xavier's ,Christ university .You need to apply for the entrance exam .While applying for entrance ,you need to attend entrance exams of top colleges then your chances of getting into a top college increases.
Some of the best colleges and universities for doing a journalism course are Guru Gobind Indraprasth University, Delhi School of Journalism, KIIT, St. Xavier’s, Chirst University, Jamia Millia Islamia, Indian Institute of Mass Communication, BHU, Pune University, Mumbai University, Symbiosis International University and Amity University. All these universities and colleges require an entrance test. I suggest that you should give entrance exams of atleast two or three of the above mentioned institutions as it will increase your options and chances to get into a top journalism college.
For most of these colleges the application date for entrance examination are already over (Delhi School of Journalism, KIIT, Christ University being the exceptions). You can apply for examinations of the above mentioned three institutes this year.
