See there is no doubt that Thapar University is one of the best colleges but not on the level of BITs. BITs is far better than Thapar. But i don't think its worth wasting 1 year for BITSAT.If you are aiming also for IITs through JEE then you can but dropping a year specially for BITs is not justifying.But if you have time and your family is okay with it then you can take a drop for sure.
