Hey Shreya ,

Yes you should have Mathematics as compulsory subject for being eligible in NEST.

Below are the academic norms for NEST exam:

Candidates must have Mathematics as the mandatory subject on 10+2 exam.

A science stream student will be given preference.

Other mandatory subjects are: physics, chemistry, biology or life science subjects.

A minimum of 60% marks is required in aggregate in 10+2 final exam for general category students.

The same is 55% marks in aggregate for SC, ST students.

THANK YOU

Those who appeared for for Class 12 Examination in 2019 are also eligible to apply for NEST 2019

Applicant must have studied Science with the combination of Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics.

Candidates must have secured at least 60% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade in class 1 exam

For Reserved Category Candidates

Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade in class XII examination will be eligible for admission to NISER and CBS. But there is no restriction regarding aggregate marks on appearing for NEST exam.
