Hi Rajib,

Government Engineering College of Ceramic Engineering, Kolkata  is definitely well known for B.Tech in Cermaic Technology and you can pursue your degree from there. But since you considered B.Tech in CSE from other private colleges, I am assuming that you like Computer Science and in that case, you should always follow your heart and pursue CSE because that will help you in your future endeavors.

Hope this helps.

I do not have any fascination or choice of streams but I am from a middle class family and need to earn. Further, a better college is always a better choice. My family is considering Government College is better than private college like St. Thomas were in I have a seat presently. Please guide

Rajib Kundu See, in this case you can opt for B.Tech in Cermaic Technology from Government Engineering College of Ceramic Engineering but remember one thing... your domain will become very limited once you choose Ceramaic Technology as your branch. Not that you won't be able to shift domains if you choose Ceramic but that becomes very difficult and takes a lot of hard work. If you do not have severe financial barrier, it would be advisable not to restrict your domain like that. Rest, you will be the best judge of yourself.

Purbayan Chatterjee Thanks for your advise. I have a chance to get CSE (Business Systems) at IEM, CSE (Business Systems), ECE at Heritage. I have secured a seat in CSE at St. Thomas. Which should be the better option in terms of career advancement

Rajib Kundu CSE (Business Systems) is definitely a good branch to look for. Considering placements and ranking of the institutes, IEM will be the best option. However, IEM gives very poor college experience and since college days are the ones you built yourself up, I would recommend joining Heritage. All this said, it is also true that in IEM you will get the best peer groups considering the colleges mentioned. Therefore, its upto you really, what you want. Work out your priorities and choose wisely.
