Your percentile is very low and yes a drop year is an option but I want you to know that how much big of a responsibility it is and how tough it is to stay motivated throughout the year and study the same syllabus all over again. I don't want to demotivate you but you need to work very very hard to crack any NIT considering your present situation. If you feel in your gut that you can do it and you are sure about it then you should definitely go for it. Join a good coaching institute to keep up with your schedule and fire up. Think about this decision thrice.
Hope this Helps!
Good Luck
According to the mentioned percentile in jee mains your rank is around to be in the range of 409200 - 460000 and SC rank is expected to be around 23000 .
So on such rank and category you have no chance to get any of the NITs.
It will be better if you drop a year and prepare for jee mains and advance for admission in Nits or IITs
