Should I take admission in Private Medical College?
Dear Karen, there are 3 Categories of seats in Private Medical Colleges. Government Quota, Management Quota and NRI Quota. The ratio of these Categories is different across each State. It is either 30:60:10 or 20:70:10. Now Private Medical Colleges do not participate in All India Counselling. The admission to all these 3 Categories of Private Medical Colleges happens through State Counselling and for participating in the State Counsellings, you need to hold domicile of that State, the exception being Karnataka because Karnataka is an Open State. Now lets say all the seats are filled up through State Counselling in Govt and NRI Quota, the remaining seats in Management quota are filled through Direct Admission. So this is the process for seeking admission in Private Medical Colleges. Now having said this, if you ask if you should take admission in a Private Medical College, you may if you can manage to get a seat and you can afford the financial investment for the next 5 years. No offense and hope none is taken, under Govt. Quota, the seat might cost you under 10 lakhs, under Management Quota, it might go upto 25-40 lakhs. So please take a call considering all these facts.
Even after trying for Govt college , if you get the choice of private college due to your Marks or rank then don't worry, even private college's also provide good education and also you can learn a lot.
