Hello Divyansh. This really depends on you. Now,since you are not eligible for NITs and IITs, the options are reduced for you even if you take partial drop. But there are also few colleges which are equivalent to IITs and NITs, so you can try for them. And your decision should also depend on your priority, means what will be your priority, good grades in college (1st year) or good rank in second attempt. Because CGPA in college matters.
Without knowing your jee all india rank I cannot suggest you to take drop for a year as if you take drop then again you have to prepare foe 12 board for increasing 2 percent to get eligible for nits or iits .
Taking drop is only successful when you get your desired college like nit or iit . So if you are good enough in first attempt then take drop.
Hope it helps!!!
It all depends on your capability, to take partial drop or not.
If you think that you will be able to maintain a good cgpa with preparation of boards and Jee preparation then you can opt for partial drop but I won't suggest you to take one because then your focus will not be towards a single thing it'll be divided and Jee preparation requires a lot of focus and time, rest is your wish.
Hope it helps
