Role of Cryolite in Metallurgy of Aluminium is as follows :

Molecular Formula of Cryolite - Na3AlF6

Cryolite basically has two roles which are as follows :

1. To Decrease the melting point of the mixture from 2323 Kelvin to 1140 Kelvin

2. To Increase electrical conductivity of Al2O3 (Aluminium Oxide)
