NIT Silchar is one of the 31 NITs in India which was established in 1967 as a Regional Engineering College in Silchar. ... In 2018 our Institute was ranked 57th in engineering category. Next year we improved to get 51st place and last year we managed to enter in top 50.

It is much wiser to take NSIT/DTU than NIT Silchar .You will get much better opportunities and environment at both these colleges . Most of the learning actually happens outside the classrooms . Even if you take CS , you will have learn it on your own. And there is no one stopping you to take programming if you are good enough .

DTU CSE is surely better than NIT Silchar. Even being NIT, it has not that good Academic record when it is compared with DTU. DTU is one of the prestigious University in India.
