2. Planning (likely urban) is the design of cities, towns and neighborhoods. B. Architecture deals with the design and construction of individual buildings. B. Arch. This job requires great accuracy as even a slight variation in the design can lead to critical situations.
So, one can say that B. Arch. includes all the things - from basics to most advanced, related to architecture while B. Planning is all about the ultimate techniques of planning related to human settlement.
3. As per many career counselors, in India, B. Planning being a newly introduced course, may lead to a slow career start, as very few planning firms are present in our country. So, getting a masters degree is a must after B. Planning.
B.Arch. on the other hand, may open numerous success gates for you as the scope for real estate or construction in India is immensely growing.
I hope this answer will help you in understanding the basic difference between the two courses.
B. Architecture and B. Planning are two different courses, though the syllabus and skills taught are quite similar. A person with B. Arch degree is called an Architect while a person with B.Planning degree is called a Planner. B.Arch deals with the architecture of single buildings and the environment around it all within site boundary. Desinging and planning in both 2D and 3D is required. While B.Planning is about planning larger areas such as towns and cities and all the environment around a building. B. Planning makes very little use of 3D and can be done in 2D easily. So basically, B.Arch is about the design of smaller areas and minute details about buildings whereas B.Planning is about vast areas and overall general details and planning. B.Arch course is of 5 years whereas B.Planning is of 4 years. B.Arch is quite wide as compared to the other.
