hi,
till 2020 gate exam, candidates who are in final year of studies of b.tech or 4 years bachelors course, or already completed b.tech or relevant stream or final year of m.sc course are eligible to appear in gate exam. however on 2021 gate exam, eligibility criteria has changed and students of three years bachelors course are also eligible to appear in gate exam. so far admission to m.sc is done based on entrance exam by university or basis on score in qualifying exam. so this year till now it difficult to predict whether admission to m.sc would be done based on gate score or not. so I suggest you to check the official notifications carefully and apply as well.
gate score is valid for three years, so in case you want to go for phd course after completion of m.sc you will eligible to apply based on this score.
Hello,
To pursue MSc in biological science you don't need to appear for GATE. GATE is conducted by IITs to offer courses into various M.Tech (Master's of Technology) degree courses. Both M.Tech and M.Sc (Masters of Science) is a two years duration course but MSc is a regular Course and M.Tech is an Engineering course. I hope you have understood. You can take admission into this course on the basis of Merit or by qualifying some entrance exam.
Good Luck.
