Hello,
It depends on the college you attend; most allow branch changes after the second semester. There are a few requirements that must be met in order to shift branches.
- You should have passed your first and second semesters (no back loggers are allowed)
- There must be an available seat in the branch to which you wish to transfer; if the branch to which you wish to transfer already has a student quota, you are unable to change.
- The first thing you should do is speak with the HOD of the branch where you want to work.
- Second, contact the college administration about this matter.

Hi there,
Yes, you can change branch in 2nd year of engineering. But it also depends on your college . If seats of that particular branch is full in which you want to take admission then you can not change your branch. But if college has vacant seat in that particular branch then you can change your branch. Furthermore, you should score high to change branch. One should score more than 8.5 CGPA per semester to change branch.
