Hi, Adithya.
The EFLU Entrance Exam for BA English (Hons.) is a 100 marks test of 2 hours with 1 mark awarded for every correct answer and no negative marking for incorrect answers.
there are total 7 sections covered in the exam :-
Section A - Grammar (15 marks)
Section B - Vocabulary (10 marks)
Section C- Reading (15 marks)
Section D- Writing (10 marks)
Section E- General Knowledge (10 marks)
Section F- Reasoning (20 marks)
I will provide a general preparation strategy so feel free to pick or modify as per your requirements:
1) English (Grammar/Vocabs/Reading) - Since this is an entrance test for an arts course in English itself then it is advisable to work hard for this section as it will help build a strong foundation for you if and when you pursue the course. It is also required if you consider yourself weak in English.
Start by going through one of these books - Objective General English by SP Bakshi or Objective English for competitive examination by Hari Mohan Prasad and Uma Sinha.
you will have to cover (at least) - Basic grammar (modals, punctuations, sentence correction etc.), poetic devices (very important), Vocabulary
2) For GK - You should go through Lucent's GK book which will cover all the static part and if you do not read newspapers then at least go through manorama yearbook (latest one) to cover basic current affairs like who won the Man Booker Prize, etc.
3) Reasoning - You will have to cover things like complete the sequence and word relations, for that you can opt for any basic aptitude book like RS Agarwal and practice until you are able to solve in short amounts of time.
4) Literature - This section will cover things like names of famous novel characters, quotes, literary devices used in famous poems, etc.
Being an avid reader always helps in that regard so there is no book for it.
I am attaching a link to one of the sample papers that I could find (unfortunately previous year papers for EFLU are not available online, as far as I can tell), I hope it helps you get a better understanding of the pattern and the level of questions asked.
