Students who reside in states other than Tamil Nadu also have to attend the TNEA(And no entrance exams are required), but a special quota is allocated for the same. Eligibility Criteria Will be announced a short while after your exams are over(May or June at max), on the Anna University website. But a general guideline is both CBSE & State Board students must have scored over 50% in Maths, Physics and Chemistry. But these change every year, make sure you are updated(i.e Check Home - Anna University ). Admission Forms are issued sometime in May or June. It can change, stay updated You can obtain it online or get a physical copy(for 500 RS) in a few institutions namely
1. College Of Engineering Guindy
2. Madras Institute of Technology
3. The Government Polytechnic College
Last year(2016) admission forms were only Online. So make sure you are updated. Submitting forms depends on how you obtained the forms your means of submitting the form will defer, so act according to the instructions you receive. You will also be required to submit a draft of 5000 rupees with the same(Maybe free in some cases). At the end of the submission process a rank list will be generated, according to your rank(Calculated by Maths, physics & Chem marks; to which a 4th subject(Comp Science or Bio) mark is added). According to your rank you will be invited to the single window counseling.
Single Window Counseling: You will be sent a post telling you when to come for your counseling session. The session is held in College Of Engineering Guindy, and you will have to come here for your counseling, with another person(Parent, Guardian or Relative). You will be given a computer generated list of Colleges you are eligible from, take your pick. And voila you are done.
