Hello Vipin,
Jee percentile is just a scale to tell of how better a student has performed in his / her shift . it tells the percentage of students that have scored equal to or less than that very particular percentile , this is the reason why the topper of each shift gets 100 percentile. Once all the attempts are done then only the official cut off will be out by NTA on the basis of the overall performance of the candidate .And also if a candidate have given all the four attempts then the attempt in which the candidate have attained the maximum percentile would be counted for the prediction of the common rank list. note that the cut-off percentile varies from one category to the other ....
Here is an approximation of the cut -off percentile from the previous years
For general category it will be lying somewhere close to 88-92
similarly for GEN-EWS it will lie between 70-74
for schedule caste it be lying near 45-53
for schedule tribe it will be somewhere close to 38-43
for other backward classes (OBC) it will lie between 71-73
for phsically weak and disabled (PWD) it will be between 2-5 percentile
This is just an approximation which is made with the trends that are followed during last to years , because final percentile depends on how all the students have prepared in the exam and that too after all the attempts are done.
I hope this will help
All the very best!
