Hi Nanu , you are eligible for gate if your college is approved through AICTE and other education society. in order to solve your query I would like to inform you that Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all India examination administered and conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and Seven Indian Institutes of Technology on behalf of the National Coordination Board-GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India.
After successful completion of B.Tech generally students opt for M.Tech. Aspirants can apply for GATE exam in order to pursue M.Tech. It is an all India test. The test is administered by top technology institutes. Most of the institutes also conduct a personal interview round.
To prepare for the exam your preparation requires the right approach along with the right study materials and strategy. Know your strengths, work on your weaknesses on start working on it.
There are numerous institutes in the country to coach like Elite Academy, Brilliant Tutorials, Career Forum, Vani Institute, IES GATE Academy, etc.

Hi aspirant,

So you are from private college but that doesn't mean you can't appear on this exam. You can appear easily in this exam

  • Many students from private college also crack gate with a good rank
  • First you should have your priorities what will you do after completing gate and cracking it , will you work for psu or research or MBA from nitie Mumbai or jrf or further studies in abroad
  • Germany and Singapore consider the gate score for admission in their government funded universities.
  • You should have a great knowledge of your branch as this exam is a complete exam to check your knowledge and you should prepare accordingly and better you choose some references like previous year solved papers and read according to the topics
  • Gate score is valid for three years
Hope this helps you

Good luck for your future

Basically you can appear in your 4 year and check official website for further queries
