About the exam: Every year, Staff Selection Commission or SSC conducts SSC JE exam to recruit eligible candidates in various disciplines for the posts: Junior engineers in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Quantity Surveying, and contract Posts, in the public sector; a great opportunity and dream of any aspiring engineer. SSC Junior Engineer recruitment is also the first major Central Government recruitment to notify the 10% reservation to Economical Weaker Section.
Like any exam, SSC JE has its own set of eligibility criteria which must be satisfied by candidates for the selection.
- Candidates must have 3 years full-time diploma or degree in Civil/Mechanical/Electrical discipline from an institution recognized by Central/ state government and UGC.
- Candidates who are in their final year are not eligible for SSC JE 2019 Exam.
- No restriction bar on percentage, the condition is to be clear/passed in your given degree.
- Age bar : 18-27 years for Department of Post, Less than 32 years for CPWD, Less than 30 years for MES.
- Work experience : none for CPWD, 2 years+ for MES, none for Farrakka barrage Project, none for Central Water Power Research Station, 2 years+ for DTE of Quality Assurance Naval
- Nationality : Must be a citizen of India or Subject of Nepal/Bhutan or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from the countries: Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia or Vietnam, with intention of permanently settling in India or a Tibetan refugee who came to India, before 1st January, 1962 with the intention of settling permanently in India
So, you have your answer to your question: Yes, you're an eligible candidate to apply for SSC JE exam 2020 as you're still doing your diploma and your result should have been declared before January 1, 2019, to be eligible for SSC JE 2019 exam. As long as you've rest of the eligibility criteria satisfied, you're all set to take the exam for the post of junior engineer in your discipline in the government sector.
