Hey,

That's completely your calling depending upon your interest. See,the eligibility criteria to crack competitive examinations like the UPSC is that you should hold a graduate degree. No matter whether you are an engineer, doctor,Lawyer or anything you need to get through the entrance Test which is common for all. The test paper is designed in a way that weighs the calibre of a student equally.

So,choose the subject that intrests you the most as you can use it as an optional in your Civil Services Examination.

Hope this helps you.

Good luck.

For IAS preparation it would be good if you pursue your BA in the subjects like History, Public Administration , Economics , Constitution & Geography. And among these I think Geography & Public Administration are most popular optional subjects for the mains and account for the 50% shares in the final mains result.Hope you find it helpful

let me know in the comment box if you are having any further doubts

thanks

Good Luck!

Hello Sriyanksha,

Well, you may pursue in BA or BSc, you are totally independent with this. The requirement for elligibility for becoming an IAS officer is just the Bachelor's degree, whether it is from any stream.

Now, if you are from PCB, then you should do BSc in respective and relevant stream.

But yeah, you may take this upon you. If you are very much keen in preparing for UPSC then you may pursue in BA.

But keep in mind, to pursue in BA from science background you percentage will be decreased upto 5%, to get admission in any recongnised university.

Make your choices wisely.

Thank you.

Sriyanksha,If you have PCB as your core subjects then you must go with BSc, as preferable. Now, if you talk about your worth, then I would say every student is worth of doing anything. It is just upon analysis. Analyse yourself up to the mark efficiently and choose your career. If you want to be a government servant, devoted to the services of our nation then go for it.Its a hard career and full of challenges. If you like that you must opt it. At this very age of yours there is a spark in a student. And this spark will lead you to your destiny.
