As per a resolution passed by the State Government of Maharashtra, s tudents winning medals at district and divisional sports events will get five extra marks at the secondary school certificate and higher secondary certificate ex aminations. The state government had also categorically defined the district tournaments that would be considered while awarding extra marks.

These events include tournaments by the directorate of sports and youth affairs, Nehru hockey cup, Subroto Mukherjee football tournament, competitions organised by the Paralympics Committee of India for physically challenged children among others. However, the notification states that the students presenting certificates of their wins in any of these tournaments should be official events organised by the district association and not invitational competition.

Khelo India being a national level sports competition, could be considered for the addition of extra marks in the HSC Boards Examination.
