Sir i am preparing for medicine but i want to know that which could be a good second option other than medicine with good salary?
Hi,
Assuming your question here is regarding the career options for PCB students, there are many options besides NEET in India.
The very first option that pops up is doing BDS if you aspire to be a dentist in future.
Other options are fields related to medicine like BAMS, BHMS, BUMS if you've got interests in ayurveda, homeopathy, unani medicine.
Physiotherapy or Naturopathy and yogic sciences are another option.
You can try for ICAR AIEEA for agricultural fields. Veterinary admissions are now done through NEET since 2017.
Another option is B. Pharm for people interested in pharmaceuticals.
If you are interested in research fields, you can always go for research in any individual subjects from physics, chemistry or biology.
If teaching as a profession attracts you, you can always for B.Sc.
Hi there.
You said you are preparing for medicine, and the mentioned tag is "Doctor" so I'm assuming that you are specifically talking about MBBS.
Except MBBS, BDS is a very good option for a good flourishing career with huge salary. Dentists start their practice earlier than doctors and make huge sum of money. From private practice to working in all hospitals and teaching at colleges, all would be available to you when it comes to BDS.
Next is the subject which has very high career prospects in the recent future, it is Psychology. The stigma around mental health is slowly dissolving and people are seeking help. Clinical Psychology is a great field for medical aspirants. You certainly won't be a Doctor i.e. in India Clinical Psychologists aren't allowed to prescribe medications but the satisfaction, respect and salary would be at par with that of a doctor's. Here too, you can have your own practice, work at hospitals and mental health clinics and be a professor at colleges. To become a RCI registered & licensed Clinical Psychologist in India one has to complete M.Phil after completing their Masters. For MPhil, NIMHANS, Bangalore is the best College which has only 15 seats from all over India. Other colleges include, IBHAS, Delhi; IOP, Kolkata; RG kar, Kolkata. There are many other types of Psychologists like Sports Psychologists, Social Psychologists, Industrial Psychologists. You will find information regarding this easily on Google.
Third option is that of a Nutritionist. You can do your graduation in Food and Nutrition and can become a licensed Nutritionist after completing your higher studies. This also is a very lucrative option as the younger generation is very health conscious and more and more people are hiring trainers and Nutrition experts. Here also, from private practice to lectureship all would be available to you.
Last I'd say, there are options like, Microbiology, Biotechnology these are industrial oriented fields with obviously high salary packages. There is chance of doing research too in these subjects. And, yes, lectureship too.
Finally, you can go for the traditional subjects like Botany, Chemistry, Zoology, Physics. All of them are research oriented and teaching oriented career programs.
Whatever you choose, choose well depending on your interest, aptitude and capabilities.
Hope you find this helpful.
Good luck!
Preparation for medical stream requires lots of hard work and practice.
In medical stream there is BDS, BHMS, BAMS other than MBBS which you can get admission through NEET.
There are other streams such as Biotechnology and Microbiology which have a good salary package and good scope.
