Sir i am susan I have completed my BA.lit&MA edu in distance work 50%am I eligible for Ctet in 2018
Dear Susan,
To appear for CTET as: 1) Teacher for Classes I-V and 2) Teacher for Classes VI-VIII, besides an undergraduate degree, you need to be either pursuing or passed Diploma in Elementary Education, B.Ed, B.EI.ED or BA/BSc Ed or BA Ed/BSc. Ed.
This means that to be eligible for CTET for Teacher for Classes I-V, you need a BA or BSc plus Diploma in Elementary Education (passed or pursuing).
For CTET for Teacher for Classes VI-VIII, you need a BA or BSc plus either of Diploma in Elementary Education/B.Ed/B.EI.EDI/ BA Ed/BSc. Ed (passed or pursuing).
As it seems you don't have the add-on qualification mentioned above, you cannot apply for CTET in both the categories. The government is planning to make 4-year B.EI.EDI compulsary to teach in the near future. So, I wouldn't advise you to go for any current 2-year BEd programs. However, doing a 4-year undergraduate degree in education means starting all over again.
If you are interested only in teaching as a career, you should ideally go for Cambridge Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA), conducted by The British Council in Chennai, Kolkata, New Delhi and Mumbai. It is accepted across the world. This will help you get absorbed as a teacher in private schools and maybe help you go for in-service training in Diploma in Elementary Education.
Best of luck!
Hello Susan,
It is not mentioned anywhere on the CTET website that those who have done distance learning course are not eligible for CTET. What you need to remember is that the university from where you have done your distance education should be recognised by the Distance Education Council and University Grants Commission. You should also have a minimum of 50% in your Bachelor's course.
For further clarification on the same, you can reach out to CTET on the following numbers
011-22235774/ 22240104
I hope this was of help and all the best!
