sir i did my schooling in gulf and I was considered as nri student now I finished my bachelors in india chennai am I still nri ?
Hi Mohan,
NRI ( Non Resident Indian) or Person of Indian Origin are people who are born in India and Resides in Foreign countries. As you have done your complete 12 years of schooling in foreign country you are still considered as NRI. For Indian citizen you should complete your schooling and higher education from india and should have following documents from officials to fall under general category ..
- Resident proof of India.
- Government id Proof.
- Birth certificate.
- Education/Migration transfer documents of 10+2 completed in India.
- Parents Job ids and income proof. etc..
These are some documents required from government officials to get seat in any colleges under general quota. Just 4 years of Bachelor studies won't make you fall under general category. Since you're still considered as NRI, quotas are available in many Universities. you can apply them and get some seat reservations in government institutions along with partial fee reimbursement. You can still get benefits from indian government while pursuing degree. Hope you find this information helpful. All the best for you career.
Thanks & Good Luck!..
