Hi Aspirant,
Hope you are doing great.
Yes, if you are passionate about doing MBA then you must prepare for CAT or OMETs. Your academics can become a hindrance in getting a call from a top B-school even if you clear the CAT cut-off because most of the IIMs like IIM Indore, IIM Ahemdabad, IIM Bangalore even gave around 45% importance to academics. So, yes it is difficult for you to get a call from these colleges but apart from that, there are lots of B-Schools that do even not consider your academics, they will give you admission only on an entrance exam basis. So, you must try for it. If you wouldn't be able to clear the CAT cut-off, you must try for OMETs like Cmat, CET, XAT, Tiss, Nmat, Snap. If you do your preparation sincerely and with discipline, you will be able to get admission to one of the top B-School.
If you want the name of the colleges and their fee structure, admission criteria, facilities, placement, you can click on the link given below.
Hope this helps.
Hello,
The eligibility criteria for CAT is passed graduation in any discipline from a recognized university securing 50% aggregate, there is relaxation of 5% for reserved categories, so you can appear for CAT as you fulfill the criteria, CAT is conducted at national level, and its scores are accepted by IIMs, and many other reputed B-Schools, so if you qualify CAT there are various options among B-School, the admission process for MBA is based on myriad factors such as your entrance test scores, academic records, work experience or written(if any), group discussion/ personal interview, now depending upon the institute the emphasis on specific parameter may vary, with your academic records the chances to get admission into B-schools which put high weightage on academic performance or specific aggregate is required in such cases is tough, however as I said the norms of admission is different in each college, you may look out for colleges which put high weightage on entrance test scores as there is scope of improvement in this areas, you have to for very high percentile, other than CAT there are various entrance tests such as XAT/MAT/CMAT and there are also state level management entrance tests which you can consider such as MAH CET, TANCET, TSICET, APICET etc.

Hello Aspirant,
It depends upon your work experience like if you have some work experience of around 1 year or more then you can get weightage of that as well and even if you don't have that then also if you out perform in CAT like if you secure your CAT percentile around 99.8+ then there would be great chances to get call from good IIMs so if you are confident on yourself and your preparation then you can appear for CAT but if not then CAT would not help you because for decent IIMs you need at least 99+ percentile and for top IIMs you should have at least 99.8+ percentile with such low academic performance and General category.
