Sir I have completed my 12th with PCB in 2019-20 and this year I have got admission in B.Sc Chemistry. I want to give IIT-JAM exam for my masters in chemistry, so could I, even if I have not opted maths in my 12th? And if maths is compulsory, could I give maths exam from nios board this year?
Hey Aspirant!
Yes, a pure PCB student can attempt IIT JAM Examination. JAM or Joint Admission Test for MSc program is a national level online entrance examination conducted for candidates seeking admission to MSc and above other PG programmes offered by 20 IITs and IISc Bangalore.
Mathematics is not compulsory for IIT-JAM, For PCB students there are Biotechnology, Biological Sciences, Physics and Chemistry. And that constitutes around 57% of the JAM exam subjects. There are a total of 7 subjects.
But if you appeared IIT jam in Chemistry then out of 20 IIT , 19 IIT wants math in 12th standard except IIT Indore. So overall math is compulsory. However if you haven't math in 12th then you need not to worry. You can have the chance to get math degree in 12th standard by NIOS exam. If you give 12th by PCB then after successfully giving the exam in NIOS you can get your degree in PCM.
