Dear friend, the Supreme Court has ruled in the famous Bharathidasan University versus AICTE case that it is not obligatory for a university, created under an Act of a competent legislature, to seek and secure prior approval of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to start a department for imparting a course or programme in technical education or a technical institution as an adjunct to the university itself to conduct technical courses of its choice and selection. What it means is that the AICTE Act,1987 is applicable only to 'technical institutions' and universities are not ' technical institutions', excluding them from the purview of the AICTE Act. So, all the universities whether govt.like DU, JNU etc or private like LPU, SMU etc just need UGC approval that they have, not AICTE approval.
So, you can go ahead with your admission in LPU.
Hello Riju,
If you are getting admission in LPU then i would suggest you to go for it. As you have mention about the approval so for your kind information universities in india only requires UGC Approval as per Supreme Court Of India. AICTE approval is mandatory for Institutions which are not granted with University Status. LPU is one of the top universities of india and you should with no doubt go for it.
