NIMCET is a national level entrance exam for MCA course in NITs . Usually the general category will have a high cutoff when it comes to such premier institutions.The cutoff ranks are decided based on the number  seats available and the the number of applicants . Your rank is really good but since the competition is high , coming from general category , I am afraid you would need a higher rank to get NITs.
