With this rank i.e. obc ncl 18000 , there are very less chances of getting a seat in nit. Yes you can get a lower ranked nits like nit silchar etc and that too lower branches ceramics or plastics , mining in some which anyone would not prefer.

Instead you can go for state joint entrance examination which would be better.

With this rank it's a bit difficult to get an nit, but still If you can wait till last rounds of counselling you can get some north eastern nits like nit arunachal Pradesh, nit tripura, nit meghalaya, nit Sikkim as the general cut offs of these colleges are quite low.

You can get home state quota in your respective state's college.
