Both the books are equally good. You can refer either one. All the best.
Hi,
I believe you are enquiring about the quality of the Quant book for CAT by Sarvesh K Verma and Arun Sharma. Here's what I have gathered from some people who have used both books:
Sarvesh K Verma - This book is considered as one of the ideal books for students from non-maths background pertaining to its simplicity. It covers all the topics in depth with each chapter being divided into three levels- the basics, further development, and finally mastering the topics.
The book also provides a lot of examples and practice questions. This book is not recommended if you do not have more than six months for preparation of CAT.
Arun Sharma – ‘How to Prepare for Quantitative Aptitude’ by Arun Sharma has been a bestseller for years now. It has received more positive reviews than the book by Sarvesh Verma. It has been helping students prepare for exams such as CAT, SNAP, MAT, XAT, etc. Like the book by Sarvesh Verma, this book is rich in content and covers three levels of difficulty approach. It provides strategies based on different type of questions and also provides common errors that are made. This is very valuable as it can help you eliminate the mistakes and overcome your weaknesses. The downside to the book is that it provides too many shortcuts possibly resulting in confusion. Students have also come across several incomplete and incorrect answers in the book.
It is worth remembering that whichever book you decide to use, it will require sincere efforts on your part and some basic understanding of Quant. Given that technology has made significant inroads in educational sectors, it is recommended that you use a mix of traditional and modern approach. You can refer to videos of a chapter and then move to either book to practice some problems. Studying from a video is even easier than it sounds. You may also practice from T.I.M.E. material.
Good luck!
