Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is one of the popular law entrance exams held across the country for admission to the participating National Law Universities (NLUs) and other law schools. To apply for  CLAT aspirants must have passed their Class 12 board exams with at least 45% (SC/ST: 40%). However, candidates appearing in the qualifying examinations are also eligible to apply for the test.

Based on the CLAT result, these NLUs will be offering 2372 LLB seats. The test will be held in a computer-based mode and it will include 200 Multiple Choice Question (MCQs) divided into five sections, which are -

  • General Knowledge & Current Affairs
  • Elementary Mathematics (Numerical Ability)
  • Legal Aptitude
  • Logical Reasoning

Each correct answer will carry 1 mark while for every wrong answer 0.25 marks will be deducted. Once the result is out, the participating NLUs will release the list of shortlisted candidates for the counselling rounds. Only the candidates who have successfully participated in the counselling rounds will be granted admission.

CLAT 2018 – NUALS Kochi (The National University of Advanced Legal Studies Kochi) is conducting CLAT 2018 on May 13. The application form of CLAT 2018 has been announced on January 1. The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT 2018) will be held online across India in around 65 examination centres. The Common Law Admission Test, also called CLAT is one of the most popular law entrance examinations held annually for admissions to five-year integrated law programmes (BA LLB, B.Com LLB, B.Sc LLB and BBA LLB) in as many as 19 NLUs (National Law Universities) including MLNU Mumbai, MNLU Nagpur and MNLU Aurangabad, which have been added recently. The CLAT 2018 conducting NLU, NUALS Kochi is to publish an official notification on the undergraduate law admission test on December 20, 2017 as it will begin CLAT 2018 application process on January 1, 2018. Further to add more information on CLAT 2018, the NLU administered law admission test scores are utilised not only by the 19 NLUs participating in CLAT, but around 25 other law schools for admissions into the five-year integrated UG law programmes. In addition to the undergraduate law programmes, CLAT was also conducted for admission into postgraduate law programmes including LLM. Candidates can read the below detailed information on CLAT 2018 to know more on the law entrance exam including important dates, eligibility criteria, application form, admit card, syllabus, exam pattern, result, score card, cut off and counselling process.

CLAT APPLICATION DETAILS

Click on the official link for CLAT Online Applications

Click on ‘New User Registration Here’ tab placed at the bottom of the page

Proceeding to the Registration Form, choose the course button applying for, fill in the basic details including name, parents’ name, e-mail id and mobile number

Next enter the captcha code and click on Submit button

Fill in the registration form by entering the details, a message of successful registration is sent to registered e-mail id containing login user id and password

Click on ‘Registered User Login’ tab placed in the page and enter login id and password to proceed to the application page of CLAT

On CLAT Online Application page, enter personal details including address, click on ‘Save & Continue’ button to go to the next pages of application

The next step of the application involves filling of academic details fill in all details and click on ‘Save & Continue’ button to upload the documents in next step

Upload the scanned copies of photograph, signature, and Date of Birth certificates and then choose three exam cities as per convinience from the drop down menu

After choosing the three exam centres, click on ‘Save & Continue’ button to go to the last page of CLAT Application

In the last page or step of the application procedure of CLAT,remit the application fee either in online mode or offline mode

Preview the duly filled-in CLAT Application Form by clicking on ‘Preview Application’ button and then check ‘I Agree’ box and finally click on ‘Submit’ button for the final submission of CLAT Application Form

CLAT ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Candidates need to have qualified Higher Secondary School/ Intermediate or equivalent examination from 10+2 education system

Candidates need to secure at least 45% marks in aggregate of the total marks and if belonging to SC/ST category, needed to secure at least 40% marks

There is no upper age limit for applying and appearing in CLAT

Candidates appearing in their Class 12th or any other equivalent examination are also considered eligible for applying for CLAT
